The Problem of Evil

...

Surah alKahf is supposed to be a 'Nur' against the fitna of adDajjal (the Deceiver). Right in the middle of the surah, we find the mention of Adam and Iblis:
  1. Iblis is a jinn
  2. Iblis rebelled against the command of his Lord
  3. Iblis and his offsprings are enemies of Adam and his progeny
  4. Iblis and his offsprings were never taken by Allah as witnesses or helpers
Reason: Allah does not take deceivers as helpers!

The Jinns were created long before humans, as narrated in the Bible (Genesis) and in Surah alHijr.

Humans were created to rule over all creation (Bible, Genesis 1).

Adam was created by Allah especially as Khalifa of the Earth.

When Allah announced to the angels that He was about to appoint a khalifa for the Earth, they questioned why:

Allah taught Adam all the names, and proved to the angels that Adam is superior in knowledge to them. Then, Allah told the angels another thing. Allah said that He knows what they reveal and what they conceal:

So, the problem of evil has apparently existed long before Adam came on the scene. There is a purpose why the Earth and the Skies were created, why this world exists, and why the Khalifat was appointed for Adam and his progeny, and why evil flourishes when the progeny of Adam do not believe and act upon their role to contain evil.

This world is temporary. All that is happening is happening to establish the evidence for and against each individual. We choose, with our free will, whether we want to submit to Allah's guidance and our role in the grand scheme of things, or we choose to be misled by the Deceiver. The choice is ours. Our eternity depends upon it.

May Allah protect us from being misled, from going astray, from surrendering our eternal success for temporal benefits.

May Allah bless us.
