The Cow (2:30)
وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّى جَاعِلٌۭ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ خَلِيفَةًۭ ۖ قَالُوٓا۟ أَتَجْعَلُ فِيهَا مَن يُفْسِدُ فِيهَا وَيَسْفِكُ ٱلدِّمَآءَ وَنَحْنُ نُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِكَ وَنُقَدِّسُ لَكَ ۖ قَالَ إِنِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ٣٠
˹Remember˺ when your Lord said to the angels, “I am going to place a successive ˹human˺ authority on earth.” They asked ˹Allah˺, “Will You place in it someone who will spread corruption there and shed blood while we glorify Your praises and proclaim Your holiness?” Allah responded, “I know what you do not know.”[1]

[1] Allah knew that there would be many righteous people who would do good, make peace, and stand up for justice. Since humans have free choice, whoever chooses to believe and do good is better in the sight of Allah than all other beings, and whoever chooses to disbelieve and do evil is worse than all other beings. See 98:6-8.
اور یاد کرو جب کہ کہا تھا تمہارے رب نے فرشتوں سے کہ میں بنانے والا ہوں زمین میں ایک خلیفہ۔ انہوں نے کہا : کیا آپ زمین میں کسی ایسے کو مقرّر کرنے والے ہیں جو اس میں فساد مچائے گا اور خون ریزی کرے گا ؟ اور ہم آپ کی حمد و ثنا کے ساتھ تسبیح اور آپ کی تقدیس میں لگے ہوئے ہیں۔ فرمایا : میں جانتا ہوں جو کچھ تم نہیں جانتے۔

Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى announced to the angels that He is appointing a Khalifa. The word 'جَاعِلٌۭ' means to make or appoint [1]. The office of the Earth's Khalifa was being created.
The angels questioned. They anticipated corruption, and the spilling of blood, while they were peacefully serving Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى , doing 'نُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِكَ' and 'نُقَدِّسُ لَكَ' for Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى .
Why? Because Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى knew what they didn't know.
Before starting with the narrative about the khalifa, Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى gives the example of the female mosquito, and what is upon her. The female mosquito is now recognised as public enemy number one, causing the most deaths annually. [1] [2]
Then we are introduced to the appointment of the Khalifa, and Iblis, who is among the angels, is exposed. Allah tells Adam:
The Cow (2:35)
وَقُلْنَا يَـٰٓـَٔادَمُ ٱسْكُنْ أَنتَ وَزَوْجُكَ ٱلْجَنَّةَ وَكُلَا مِنْهَا رَغَدًا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمَا وَلَا تَقْرَبَا هَـٰذِهِ ٱلشَّجَرَةَ فَتَكُونَا مِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ ٣٥
And We said: O Adam! Dwell thou and thy wife in the Garden, and eat ye freely (of the fruits) thereof where ye will; but come not nigh this tree lest ye become wrong-doers.

اور ہم نے کہا اے آدم ! رہو تم اور تمہاری بیوی جنت میں اور کھاؤ اس میں سے بافراغت جہاں سے چاہو۔ مگر اس درخت کے قریب مت جانا۔ ورنہ تم ظالموں میں سے ہوجاؤ گے۔

Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى gives Adam guidance. As we see, even after that, Iblis is able to fool Adam and his wife, and they are removed from what they were in. [1]
Then, they are expelled from the Garden:
The Cow (2:36)
فَأَزَلَّهُمَا ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ عَنْهَا فَأَخْرَجَهُمَا مِمَّا كَانَا فِيهِ ۖ وَقُلْنَا ٱهْبِطُوا۟ بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّۭ ۖ وَلَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُسْتَقَرٌّۭ وَمَتَـٰعٌ إِلَىٰ حِينٍۢ ٣٦
But Satan caused them to slip out of it and removed them from that [condition] in which they had been. And We said, "Go down, [all of you], as enemies to one another, and you will have upon the earth a place of settlement and provision for a time."

پھر پھسلا دیا ان دونوں کو شیطان نے اس درخت کے بارے میں تو نکلوا دیا ان دونوں کو اس کیفیت میں سے جس میں وہ تھے۔ ) اور ہم نے کہا تم سب اترو تم ایک دوسرے کے دشمن ہو گے۔ اور تمہارے لیے اب زمین میں ٹھکانا ہے اور نفع اٹھانا ہے ایک خاص وقت تک۔

Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى had created the office of the Khalifa for earth.
Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى taught Adam all the names. [1]
Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى proved to the angels that Adam was superior in knowledge.
Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى exposed the arrogance and enmity of Iblis.
Armed with the knowledge of all the names, and the experience of the enmity of Iblis, suffering the loss of external cover as a consequence of disobedience, the Khalifa et al were sent to Earth.
Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى does not create anything without purpose. When the angels objected to the office of the khalifa, Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى told them that He knew what they did not know.
This world has seen multiple generations and many forms of government. Seldom has Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى been taken as King, and His Laws (Deen and Shariah) implemented. Yet, whenever, and wherever, that has been the case, the world has experienced justice and peace.
Parallel systems have existed where the Laws are manmade, and there has existed injustice and false peace. People are continuously fooled by appearances, and again and again the same playbook is repeated. The wealthy consider themselves above the Law, and the poor follow the wealthy, in pursuit of worldly success. Eventually, their sinfulness surrounds them, except those Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى decides to save through His Mercy. Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى is Merciful towards His slaves. [1][2]
Hypocrisy has no place in religion.
There are two parties:
- the Party of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى
- the party of Shaitaan (Satan)
Why does Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى allow the party of Shaitaan to exist? To generate the evidence against them.
Why does Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى allow His party to strive for Him? To generate the evidence for them.
This world is temporary. Everything that happens, eventually ends.
Nothing is permanent in this world.
The Hereafter is permanent.
- Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى 's Party will inherit the Earth, and they will permanently live in The Gardens of Eternity in the Skies.
- Shaitaan (Satan)'s party will lose everything, and they will permanently be contained in the Fires of Hell.
The Kingdom of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى will prevail.
The Office of Khilafat will prevail.
The Deen will prevail.
While the world awaits Divine Justice and Rule of Law, the prayer (dua) of the oppressed resonates with urgency: appoint for us a wali and someone who helps massively.
The Women (4:75)
وَمَا لَكُمْ لَا تُقَـٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ ٱلرِّجَالِ وَٱلنِّسَآءِ وَٱلْوِلْدَٰنِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ أَخْرِجْنَا مِنْ هَـٰذِهِ ٱلْقَرْيَةِ ٱلظَّالِمِ أَهْلُهَا وَٱجْعَل لَّنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ وَلِيًّۭا وَٱجْعَل لَّنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ نَصِيرًا ٧٥
And what is it with you? You do not fight in the cause of Allah and for oppressed men, women, and children who cry out, “Our Lord! Deliver us from this land of oppressors! Appoint for us a saviour; appoint for us a helper—all by Your grace.”

How should ye not fight for the cause of Allah and of the feeble among men and of the women and the children who are crying: Our Lord! Bring us forth from out this town of which the people are oppressors! Oh, give us from thy presence some protecting friend! Oh, give us from Thy presence some defender!

اور تمہیں کیا ہوگیا ہے کہ تم قتال نہیں کرتے اللہ کی راہ میں اور ان بےبس مردوں عورتوں اور بچوں کی خاطر جو مغلوب بنا دیے گئے ہیں جو دعا کر رہے ہیں کہ اے ہمارے پروردگار ہمیں نکال اس بستی سے جس کے رہنے والے لوگ ظالم ہیں اور ہمارے لیے اپنے پاس سے کوئی حمایتی بنا دے اور ہمارے لیے خاص اپنے فضل سے کوئی مددگار بھیج دے

اور تم کو کیا ہوا کہ تم نہیں لڑتے اللہ کی راہ میں اور ان کمزور مردوں اور عورتوں اور بچوں کے ليے جوکہتے ہیں کہ خدا یا، ہم کو اس بستی سے نکال جس کے باشندے ظالم ہیں اور ہمارے ليے اپنے پاس سے کوئی حمایتی پیدا کردے اور ہمارے ليے اپنے پاس سے کوئی مدد گار کھڑا کردے

The next ayat states:
The Women (4:76)
ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يُقَـٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُقَـٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱلطَّـٰغُوتِ فَقَـٰتِلُوٓا۟ أَوْلِيَآءَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ۖ إِنَّ كَيْدَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ كَانَ ضَعِيفًا ٧٦
Believers fight for the cause of Allah, whereas disbelievers fight for the cause of the Devil. So fight against Satan’s ˹evil˺ forces. Indeed, Satan’s schemes are ever weak.

The believers fight in the way of Allah, and the disbelievers fight in the way of Tāghūt. So, fight the friends of Satan. No doubt, the guile of Satan is feeble.

Those who believe fight in the cause of Allāh, and those who disbelieve fight in the cause of ṭāghūt.[1] So fight against the allies of Satan. Indeed, the plot of Satan has ever been weak.

Those who believe do battle for the cause of Allah; and those who disbelieve do battle for the cause of idols. So fight the minions of the devil. Lo! the devil's strategy is ever weak.

Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who reject Faith Fight in the cause of Evil: So fight ye against the friends of Satan: feeble indeed is the cunning of Satan.

” جن لوگوں نے ایمان کا راستہ اختیار کیا ہے ‘ وہ اللہ کی راہ میں لڑتے ہیں اور جنہوں نے کفر کا راستہ اختیار کیا ہے وہ طاغوت کی راہ لڑتے ہیں ‘ پس شیطان کے ساتھیوں سے لڑو اور یقین جانو کہ شیطان کی چالیں حقیقت میں نہایت کمزور ہیں۔

جن لوگوں نے ایمان کا راستہ اختیار کیا ہے، وہ اللہ کی راہ میں لڑتے ہیں جنہوں نے کفر کا راستہ اختیار کیا ہے، وہ طاغوت کی راہ میں لڑتے ہیں،1 پس شیطان کے ساتھیوں سے لڑو اور یقین جانو کہ شیطان کی چالیں حقیقت میں نہایت کمزور ہیں۔2

[1]یعنی بظاہر
شیطان اور اس کے ساتھی بڑی تیاریوں سے اُٹھتے ہیں اور بڑی زبردست چالیں
چلتے ہیں، لیکن اہلِ ایمان کو نہ اُن کی تیاریوں سے خوف زدہ ہونا چاہیے اور
نہ ان کی چالوں سے۔ آخر کار ان کا انجام ناکامی ہے۔
[2]یہ اللہ کا دو
ٹوک فیصلہ ہے۔ اللہ کی راہ میں اس غرض کے لیے لڑنا کہ زمین پر اللہ کا دین
قائم ہو، یہ اہلِ ایمان کا کام ہے اور جو واقعی مومن ہے وہ اس کام سے کبھی
باز نہ رہے گا۔ اور طاغوت کی راہ میں اس غرض کے لیے لڑنا کہ خدا کی زمین پر
خدا کے باغیوں کا راج ہو، یہ کافروں کا کام ہے اور کوئی ایمان
رکھنے والا آدمی یہ کام نہیں کر سکتا۔
جو لوگ ایمان ﻻئے ہیں وه تو اللہ تعالیٰ کی راه میں جہاد کرتے ہیں اور جن لوگوں نے کفر کیا ہے، وه اللہ تعالیٰ کے سوا اوروں کی راه میں لڑتے ہیں[1] پس تم شیطان کے دوستوں سے جنگ کرو! یقین مانو کہ شیطانی حیلہ (بالکل بودا اور) سخت کمزور ہے۔

[1]مومن اور کافر، دونوں کو جنگوں کی ضرورت پیش آتی ہے۔ لیکن دونوں کے مقاصد جنگ میں عظیم فرق ہے، مومن اللہ کے لئے لڑتا ہے، محض طلب دنیا یا ہوس ملک گیری کی خاطر نہیں۔ جب کہ کافر کا مقصد یہی دنیا اور اس کے مفادات ہوتے ہیں۔(2) مومنوں کو ترغیب دی جا رہی ہے کہ طاغوتی مقاصد کے لئے حیلے اور مکر کمزور ہوتے ہیں، ان کے ظاہری اسباب کی فراوانی اور کثرت تعداد سے مت ڈرو تمہاری ایمانی قوت اور عزم جہاد کے مقابلے میں شیطان کے یہ چیلے نہیں ٹھہر سکتے۔
جو مومن ہیں وہ تو خدا کے لئے لڑتے ہیں اور جو کافر ہیں وہ بتوں کے لئے لڑتے ہیں سو تم شیطان کے مددگاروں سے لڑو۔ (اور ڈرو مت) کیونکہ شیطان کا داؤ بودا ہوتا ہے

جب لوگ ایمان والے ہیں وہ قتال کرتے ہیں اللہ کی راہ میں اور جو لوگ کافر ہیں وہ طاغوت کی راہ میں قتال کر رہے ہیں تو تم جنگ کرو شیطان کے ساتھیوں سے یقیناً شیطان کی چال بڑی کمزور ہے

جو لوگ ایمان والے ہیں سو لڑتے ہیں اللہ کی راہ میں اور جو کافر ہیں سو لڑتے ہیں شیطان کی راہ میں سو لڑو تم شیطان کے حمایتیوں سے بیشک فریب شیطان کا سست ہے [1]

[1]جہاد کی ترغیب:یعنی جب یہ بات ظاہر ہے کہ مسلمان اللہ کی راہ میں لڑتے ہیں اور کافر لوگ شیطان کی راہ میں سو پھر تو مسلمانوں کو شیطان کے دوستوں یعنی کافروں کے ساتھ لڑنا بلاتامل ضروری ہوا اللہ تعالیٰ ان کا مددگار ہے۔ کسی قسم کا تردد نہ چاہئے اور سمجھ لو کہ شیطان کا حیلہ اور فریب کمزور ہے مسلمانوں پر نہ چل سکے گا۔ اس سے مقصود مسلمانوں کو جہاد پر ترغیب دلانا اور ہمت بندھانا ہے جس کا ذکر آیات آئندہ میں بالتصریح آتا ہے۔
جو لوگ ایمان والے ہیں ، وہ اللہ کی راہ میں لڑتے ہیں اور جو منکر ہیں ، وہ شیطان کی راہ میں لڑتے ہیں پس تم شیطان کے ساتھیوں سے لڑو بے شک شیطان کی چال بہت کمزور ہے

The free must strive for the oppressed, as per their capacity, without taking the Law in their hands. It is for those who have been placed in power to declare war. So, the next ayat states:
The Women (4:77)
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ قِيلَ لَهُمْ كُفُّوٓا۟ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ فَلَمَّا كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقِتَالُ إِذَا فَرِيقٌۭ مِّنْهُمْ يَخْشَوْنَ ٱلنَّاسَ كَخَشْيَةِ ٱللَّهِ أَوْ أَشَدَّ خَشْيَةًۭ ۚ وَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا لِمَ كَتَبْتَ عَلَيْنَا ٱلْقِتَالَ لَوْلَآ أَخَّرْتَنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍۢ قَرِيبٍۢ ۗ قُلْ مَتَـٰعُ ٱلدُّنْيَا قَلِيلٌۭ وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌۭ لِّمَنِ ٱتَّقَىٰ وَلَا تُظْلَمُونَ فَتِيلًا ٧٧
Have you not seen those to whom it was said, “Hold your hands (from fighting) and be steadfast in Salāh and pay Zakāh.” However, when fighting is enjoined upon them, then surprisingly, a group from them starts fearing people, as one would fear Allah, or fearing even more.They say, “Our Lord, why have you enjoined fighting upon us? Would you have not spared us for a little more time?” Say, “The enjoyment of the world is but a little, and the Hereafter is far better for the one who fears Allah, and you shall not be wronged, even to the measure of a fiber.

تم نے دیکھا نہیں ان لوگوں کو جن سے کہا گیا تھا کہ اپنے ہاتھ روکے رکھو اور نماز قائم کرو اور زکوٰۃ دو ؟ اور وہ کہتے ہیں پروردگار ! تو نے ہم پر جنگ کیوں فرض کردی ؟ کیوں نہ ابھی ہمیں کچھ اور مہلت دی ؟ (اے نبی !) کہہ دیجیے دنیا کا ساز و سامان بہت تھوڑا ہے اور آخرت بہت بہتر ہے اس کے لیے جو تقویٰ کی روش اختیار کرے اور تم پر ایک دھاگے کے برابر بھی ظلم نہیں ہوگا

Die we must, eventually, when our time comes. Nobody lives in this world forever. Best to die in a state of Islam.
